Weekly Update March 6, 2017

SPIRIT WEEK MARCH 6TH-10TH!

Monday- Where did ya go?                   Sport your camo gear!

Tuesday- Sing it loud sing it proud!    Rep your favorite band by wearing a t-                                                                            shirt with their logo on it (please make                                                                            sure this is school appropriate)

Wednesday- Surfers vs. sk8rs               Dress either as a surfer or a skater

Thursday- white out                                Wear a white t-shirt that you don’t mind                                                                        getting written all over, NJHS and your                                                                          classmates will be covering it with                                                                                    encouraging notes

Friday- Anybody but us                          Wear any other school’s attire, just not                                                                            VBL’s or VDLP’s!

Spring Break
Spring Break starts on March 13th and runs through March 25th.  School will resume on Monday, March 24th. Have a safe and happy break!

Intersession 

We will have intersession available for students who are struggling in Math and Reading on March 13-15th at Vail Blended Learning. Students in the minimally proficient category on their third benchmark, or students who are failing a class will be required to attend intersession. Paperwork will go home on Monday, March 6th.

Field Trip

Our next field trip will be to the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum. The students will be touring the facility, and will have the opportunity  to see many desert animals, plants and birds native to our area. We will also be participating in the sting ray experience and petting live sting rays. The field trip will take place on March 31st. Permission slips are due before March 28th and will be handed out next week.

Movie Night

Friday, April 7th from 6-8 p.m. the VIC will be playing Moana in order to raise money for TMC. NJHS and WEB students will be co-hosting this event.

Admission to the movie will be free and the following free snacks will be provided: popcorn, red vines, and water. 

The following snacks will cost $1:candy, nachos, pretzels, and iced-drinks and the proceeds will benefit TMC

Awards Assembly

We will be having our third quarter awards assembly on Tuesday, April 11th at 9 a.m.  We would like to recognize all the extraordinary efforts of our students by giving recognition certificates for Straight A’s, Honor Roll, High Honor Roll, Citizenship, Daily Math Skills and more. In addition to that, we have our  AZMERIT awards! Students will be receiving awards for demonstrating Proficiency on Reading and Math on their 2016 AZMERIT assessments.  

We would love to have you attend if you are able.

AZMERIT

AZMERIT has practice tests and materials you can view at home with your student. Testing will be conducted on April 12th, 25th and 26th.

Science AIMS has practice tests and materials you can view at home with your student. Testing will be conducted on April 18th.

Please do not schedule any appointments during testing time. If you know that your student will not be here one of these days please let us know so that we can schedule their test appropriately.
