Weekly Update July 10, 2017

The first day of school will be July 17th. The school day will start at 8:45 and students will be dismissed at 3:10.

Dear VBL Families,

We hope you have had a great summer. We are looking forward to starting the new school year with you and your students. We have a lot of exciting things planned for the upcoming year!

Please read the attached letter regarding laptop options for the upcoming school year. If you decide to bring your own laptop or purchase one, we will have a technology coordinator on site on the two registration days to register the laptop on the school and district network.

The first day of school is Monday, July 17th. Our school day starts at 8:45 a.m. and ends at 3:10 p.m. Students should not arrive on campus before 8:30 a.m. Friday elective options will be available to choose from as well as permission slips for our first field trip on Friday, July 21st.

We will be having two registration days on July 5, from 8 am -4 pm and July 6 , from 8 am – 4 pm. We are asking that you come and fill out all necessary paperwork and if you are choosing to use a school issued computer, pay the mandatory insurance fee of $50. The insurance fee may be paid in cash, check, or money order. Only students that have paid the mandatory insurance fee and own a protective sleeve or case will be issued a school computer on their chosen curriculum orientation date.

If you will be using your own computer this school year, please come in with the device between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on July 5th or July 6th in order to set up your computer with our site technology coordinator and start the school year being able to use your computer.

We will be holding a mandatory Curriculum Night for all students and their parents, and are providing you with two options for attending. Please choose one of the following dates to attend with your child and their laptop:


Tuesday, July 11th @ 5:00 p.m.

Wednesday, July 12th @ 3:00 p.m.


We will ask you for your chosen date and time when you come in for registration or you may email Ms. Arvizu with your date choice.

In addition to the curriculum night, we are having a mandatory New Student Orientation on Friday, July 14th from 9 am – 12 pm. Our WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) team will have activities planned to help your student feel comfortable about joining our VBL team. They may bring snacks and water with them if they wish but no other supplies will be needed.




*Laptop Case- if you are using a school issued computer needs to fit a 13-inch laptop. Padded backpack is not enough protection per insurance policy

*Divider tabs

*Headphones must be brought to school each day

*Lined paper

*Graph paper

*2- 1 – 1/2inch binders and 5 dividers each

*2 or more spiral notebooks

*independent reading book

*Highlighter and Dry Erase Marker at all times in all classes

*Scientific calculator highly recommended for grades 7-9
