ACT for 9th Grade Students

This month, the Vail School District will begin offering the new Pre-ACT Test to all of its 9th, 10th, and 11th graders for FREE.  The Pre-ACT is a multiple-choice test assessment aimed at preparing students for the ACT. It is a very useful assessment in that it allows students to see direct score predictions based on the same scale and content as the regular ACT.

The PreACT has the same four multiple-choice sections as the regular ACT: English, Math, Reading, and Science (no Writing section) and is scored the same way as the regularACT.   The main difference is that it’s considerably shorter and students will be able to see their questions and their answers within two weeks of taking the test.

We are offering this test in order to help students get a better sense of where they would score on the real ACT and to identify what skills are needed to prepare before taking it. Also, it’s FREE ACT test preparation

We will administer this test on the morning of Wednesday August 29th at the Vail Innovation Center.   Please plan on arriving by 8:45 am so the we can being testing at 9:00 am.  There is also a mandatory pre-testing session that students need to attend to complete information prior to the testing day.  That pre-testing session will be during their school day at the Vail innovation Center.

Teacher/Parent/Student Conferences
Conferences are scheduled on September 6th and 7th.   Students will be released at 12:30pm on Thursday, September 6th.  There will be no school on Friday, September 7th.

The Conference schedule is as follows:
Thursday, September 6th         1:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Friday, September 7th              9:00-12:00 p.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Teachers will be available on a walk-in basis. We look forward to meeting with you during conference times. Students are highly encouraged to attend with you. Teacher/Parent/Student conferences are extremely important as they provide the opportunity for you, your child, and your child’s teachers to meet and review your student’s progress.  If you are unable to attend conferences during these times, please contact your child’s teacher via e-mail or phone to arrange for another opportunity to meet.
